Author Note This is the first of a series in a dystopian world where order and genetic purity are at war with the other faction. While there are similarities with some religious organizations, this book is not meant to portray any specific religion but instead a futuristic world where diversity is something worth fighting for. Some of my books have some explicit scenes, but this first book in the series introduces us to the main characters and is more a romance/ drama/ action shorter story.

This was book one of a 3 book series! Oh... did I say book? Although this story is printed with a cover and a back cover, I hesitate to call it a book! It is definitely NOT a novel. It is much more a short story. In fact it looks as if the publisher tries to add some blank and filler pages before and after the story begins and ends. The story is only about 70 pages long!!! And, to make the "book" seem bigger they add a "preview" at the end of the story... of the next book in the series. The only problem with that is that the next book in the series is also so short, that the preview is probably a third of the next book!Don't get me wrong... the story is pretty good and entertaining, even though the characters in the story do not seem written to be very complete. The author does keep me interested in the story, the only problem is that this is a short story... and whatever you pay for it is not worth it if you think your getting a real book, a novel.
This three book series would have been much better if the publisher had published them as a single book. then maybe the story would have been an actual novel that could have boasted to be a bit over 200 pages!!!
I have yet to get book 3 of this series. I may or may not get it in fact. I mean, I already read a third of the book in the previews after the story in book 2. A 70 page story certainly is not worth the cost, but after reading the first two, it might be nice to know how the story ends!
Note to the author... publish the three parts of this story as a single book... perhaps even expand each story as they are way too short and because they're written like a short story, the story and the characters are not written fully or fleshed out like the story in an actual novel.

This has a lot of potential and the world was creative and interesting. But the author tried to force emotional involvement with overwrought prose in place of development and the romance never got off the ground.
Abel is in a sort of post-apocalyptic commune. I hoped it would be developed more, but Abel meets Jacob in some sort of confusing rush of violence and I guess attraction. After that things got very confusing, then they ran away together.
There was no development of feelings or romance at all - the self talk was all self-flaggilation and horror. Then they were in love. I DNFed at that point.
The romance needs to be developed just like the plot, with a plan. Just flowery prose of electric sensations doesn't cut it.
